A few kilometres from the lake, Franciacorta is one of Italy’s great sparkling-wine areas. Many wineries open their doors for visits to vineyards and underground cellars and tastings of Franciacorta DOCG, made with the traditional method.

- The Strada del Franciacorta wine route suggests itineraries among wineries, farm stays and restaurants.
Good to know
If you are driving, mind the legal limits: many cellars let you spit or choose smaller tastings. Alternatively, there are organised tours with transport included.
